The Cities of Papillion and La Vista have sponsored a new program, Papillion La Vista Stormwater Outreach to promote their combined efforts in stormwater and watershed management. The partnership between the cities of Papillion and La Vista is a consortium of local organizations dedicated to promoting storm-water and watershed awareness and education through direct public interaction and involvement.
The cities of Papillion and La Vista are located in Sarpy County, Nebraska. The City of Papillion was incorporated in 1870 and has a population of approximately 19,000. The City of La Vista was incorporated in 1960 and has a population of approximately 18,000. Both cities are MS4 communities, which mean they have Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems and NPDES permits giving them permission to discharge their storm sewer systems into waters of the State. Papillion and La Vista are also members of the Papillion Creek Watershed Partnership, which conducts a variety of storm water management activities.
